Amputation Recovery Pathway

Step 1
Surgeon, patient, and prosthetist meet to determine the best surgical procedure and chart the recovery pathway.

Prosthetist meets with patient post-operatively for incision care and to map rehab.

Prosthetist fits multiple trial prosthesis and guides rehab process through a series of appointments.

Prosthetist fits the permanent prosthetic when patient is fully recovered at about 3-6 months post-op.

Patient resumes normal activities and follows up with prosthetist every 6 months for adjustments and supplies.

For the past twenty-three years, Steve Deaton has provided innovative, advanced care for amputees. Initially, Steve became a certified prosthetic technician to learn the industry from the ground up. After working in fabrication, he earned a graduate degree from Northwestern University in prosthetics. His team approach utilizes the unique skills of each specialty that includes the surgeon, wound care, care coordinator, fabricator, rehabilitation, and prosthetic solution. With this integrated care, patients rebound much faster than the industry average and return to normal activities at a quicker pace.
